There may have been a couple of woolly heads in the Coaching Department for this early kick off but thankfully the boys were wide awake right from the start!
Pilgrim have been playing really well since the Easter break and today all of their skills were on display. They pressured Westerham from the off and were rewarded with a goal for Freddy in the first minute.
Archie and Josh were both working really hard in midfield to make their tackles and stop the opposition get past the halfway line. Most impressive though was their confidence on the ball to go past players and find their team mates with accurate passes.
As a result, it wasn't long before Pilgrim had a second goal and the team's confidence really started to grow. Westerham did pull a goal back but when Olly started off the best move of the match which ended with Adam scoring in the bottom corner after four perfect passes there was only going to be one winner.
Freddy added another before half time to make it 4-1.
Pilgrim started the second half as they finished the first with Ben and Leo getting on the score sheet. Harry was providing a solid base in defence again and with Josh making a couple of good saves the boys were in control of the match. Westerham fought back in the last five minutes but the result was safe by then.
All of the boys were stars today but Adam just stood out to win Man of the Match. Adam always works hard making tackles but today he also showed how far his passing game has come on and it was great to see him get a goal too.
This was a fantastic way to end the season and on behalf of Stu and Danny I would like to thank all of the family and friends who have supported the team throughout the season. Special thanks to Karen for sorting all of the administration out, we wouldn't have got the team registered without you!
However, the biggest thank you goes to the boys, they have all been an absolute pleasure to coach since the first match and fully deserved to end the season with today's result but more importantly today's performance.
I'm sure we are all ready for the summer break but I for one am excited about what the boys can do next season!
Up the Pilgrims!
