A game in which 3-0 flattered the opposition. We were unlucky not to score with Ryan and Freddie in particular going close in the second half which might have made for a big finish.
The boys played great throughout with really solid tackling and a desire to be first to, and win the ball. This was our best physical performance to date and as we get stronger, confidence is growing. As our results have shown, we are competing well every week - proving that our drubbing by Millwall Lionesses was a one off!
Our positional play was also exceptionally good. With a full squad of 11, we had to rotate frequently but it didn't disrupt our game. Dominic played a half each in goal and outfield showing his full range of talents. Daniel, Luke and Sam were solid when alternating defensive duties. Freddie, Ryan V, Henry and Jack provided the energy and pace in midfield, also supporting defence well when required. Max and Ryan B worked really hard up front, chasing back when play broke down. Michael had a strong game both in midfield and with the gloves.
Elmstead took their chances and a couple of very good players made the difference. Both teams though were evenly matched and this was a closer game than when they beat us 4-1 earlier in the season. Oddly, both our matches against Elmstead have started with a minutes' silence and on both occasions the teams observed it perfectly and played the match in a great spirit.
Freddie gets the star player award this week. He worked hard throughout, up and down the pitch encouraging the team and unlucky not to find the net. Well done Freddie, leading the team by example.
