Maybe it was the half term break, but we dropped from the high standards of recent weeks and found ourselves on the end of a heavy cup defeat.
The Lionesses were well organised and hard working and dominated the first half, going in 5-0 up at half time. It didn't help that Dominic got injured in goal, although Michael stepped up to help the team and proved he can play in every position! At the interval we re-grouped and gave ourselves a stern talking to and as a result, the second half saw Forbes pick up.
Our harder work rate was rewarded with two goals, the first from Freddie slotting in from close range and the second from Ryan V, finishing off a good run with a fantastic finish into the top corner. The game finished with us losing 9-2 but a much improved second half performance was a nice way to end after the disappointing first half.
This was a wake up call and shows what can happen when you have an off day. Despite the loss, there's always positives to take from a game. Some good second half performances across the team, it was a difficult call but Sam, who has shown great improvements to his all 'round game throughout the season - and this was another fine performance - shades it.
Star Player = Sam Campbell. (Well done Sam)
