Despite going down 6-0, Forbes gave another determined display against experienced opposition.
Proving the old cliché correct that football is a game of two halves, for the second week in a row we held our own very much in the first half, before losing two late goals just before the half time whistle. We defended with great resilience and with each game, the boys are becoming more accustomed to their positions and tactical awareness.
Experience and stamina are big factors at this level and that will only come with game time. Their spirit can't be faulted and will be a big factor in games where the score line is tight. This was the first game where we didn't manage to find the net, despite coming close on a couple of occasions in the second half. Hawks had a bit extra as they pressed forward and scored a couple of very good goals running out 6-0 at the final whistle. Now we have a solid defensive base, we will look to become more adventurous in future games.
Some eye-catching performances from many players. Freddie is proving worthy of the Captain's armband and Henry was again solid in defence and then with the gloves, taking over from Dominic who also made some fine saves in the first half.
Daniel, Ryan B and Luke were assured in defence. Freddie, Ryan V and Sam provided great energy in midfield, Michael showed some very neat skills down the right and Jack and Max chased every ball despite our attacks being limited.
Always difficult to single out the week's star player, but single out I will:
Henry Mockler = Star Player (Strong and good organisation both in defence and between the sticks).
