On what started as a normal Sunday morning hoping for another great game, soon turned into a challenging one. We first had to deal with a mix up on pitch allocation and a possible delay or a cancelled fixture, and then our opponents turning up with not enough players. It sure was going to be a test for our boys and us coaches. Eventually with the co-operation of OWFC Hayes and swapping pitches our game was going ahead allbeit 45 mins late! Our next problem was the game itself and after a difficult discussion with our boys asking if one of them wouldn't mind playing for them, Harry to his credit popped up and volunteered without any hesitation! ( this took a lot of guts and courage and all three coaches were amazed how quickly he put up his hand, also a very proud dad.)
Anyway back to the reason why we were there THE GAME. With Harry in goal for Ex Blues we started with Freddie in goal with Jas and Harley at the back, Marcus & Charlie in midfield & Kenan up front.

The game started well Ex Blues immediately showed us they were not going to be a pushover even with six players (one of them being ours) They tackled well and pushed up the field with determination. Good passing between Marcus and Kenan resulted in a foul on Kenan in the box giving us a penalty. Kenan blasted his ball into the bottom corner and Harry couldn't quite save it despite getting his fingertips on it. One nil up we carried on, five minutes later Ex-Blues got their first (and only) goal of the game. This came after a few snoozes from our defenders and not paying attention. The rest of the first half was fairly equal although Ex Blues dominated in possession. Camberwell had at least three excellent chances at the goal but the keeper was too good tipping one over the bar. Minutes before the end of the first half Joseph powered in our second goal with his mighty right foot.
Second half saw Kenan in goal for the opposition and Marcus between the poles for us. Our defence was Harry and Tom, Freddie and Jas in midfield and Harley up front. Our boys fell back into their comfortable positions and gave a blinding performance, passing, tackling and working together well. These boys are playing as a team brilliantly in such a short space of time. As usual with his speedy feet, twisting and turning, Freddie gave us two goals within five minutes of each other bamboozling the opposition. Joseph scored again taking our sheet to 5-1.
Freddie scored his third goal getting a hatrick just before the whistle blew giving us our fourth consecutive win of the season. Meaning we are undefeated with 24 goals scored 6 conceded. That'll do nicely!!!!

Today's game saw:
Marcus - accurate and powerful passing
Charlie - Committed to his position
Joseph - Speed demon
Kenan - Skilful
Tom - Solid defender
Harley - Good reader of the ball
Freddie - Nifty finsher
Harry - Versatile
Jas - All rounder

Man of the match went to Jas who was given a break from goal this week, He played in defence first half and blocked and tackled well spreading the ball to midfield beautifully. Second half saw him step up to midfield where he battled away and ran down the wing like Usain Bolt. Well deserved Jas!

Next week sees us at home against Hamsey Rangers, hopefully normal service will be resumed.
Well done to all the boys, all three coaches were really proud of the boys who managed the disruption well and kept up their fitness, focus and energy levels for two hours!
Thanks to all the parents too, it's great to have such passionate supporters on the sideline!
