Datchelor U7s played their first game of 2016/17 and despite not having played together before, and in some cases still learning each other's names, they worked hard and showed a team spirit Chelsea would have paid good money for last season!
Jack (Murph), Jack (B), Bradley, Paddy and Harry battled hard and fought through-out the first half, keeping their heads up even when the goals rained down. Jaden made some fantastic saves to keep the score down, and despite taking a ball to the face, bravely soldiered on, walking off at half time with a cut lip to show for his heroics.
The second half began much better, and with Datchelors shooting downhill, they began to explore West Wickham's half, putting pressure on the defence and making some exciting runs. Paddy, Jaden, Jack (Murph) and Harry battled hard with Bradley making tireless runs up and down the flanks. Jack (B) gave the away fans something to cheer with his interpretation of rush keeper, and together the team continued to chase the game. They never gave up on each other and eventually their joint determination earned them their first goal.
Thanks to this determination, Jaden skillfully found himself through on goal, only to be brought down by the keeper. A penalty was awarded and Harry stepped up bravely to put it coolly away. Goal!
This was a batispm of fire, but all the boys did us very proud! A thoroughly enjoyable and very promising show from them all!!! Go Datcherlor!!!
